University College of Engineering
The university college of Engineering (UCE) has the distinction of being the oldest and the biggest among the engineering Colleges of the State of Andhra Pradesh. Established in the year 1929, eleven years after the formation of Osmania University, it was the 6th Engineering College to be established in the whole of British India. The College moved to its present permanent building in the year 1947. today it is the biggest among the campus colleges of Osmania University. The Golden Jubilee of the College was celebrated in 1979, the Diamond Jubilee in 1989 and the Platinum Jubilee in 2004. the College was made autonomous in 1994.
The College offers four-year engineering degree courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The College also offers courses leading to Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Master of Computer various branches of Engineering. Part-time courses are offered both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As of today, there is a yearly intake of 320 undergraduate students (full-time) and 140 (part-time) students and 290 postgraduate students (full-time and part-time). There are 109 teaching staff members, including 24 professors.
GENERAL FACILITIES
HEALTH CENTER:
The University has a Health Centre located near the Arts College which caters to the needs of students and staff of Osmania University. It is open from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 on all working days. Working hours on public holidays and second Saturdays are from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm only. It is closed on Sundays.
SBH EXTENSION COUNTER:
The state Bank of Hyderabad Extension Counter in the College premises works from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on all working days, and from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays. In addition to rendering the normal services of any bank, the Extension Counter accepts fees, including exam fee, drafts etc. on behalf of the University. This counter is under renovation so as to give better facilities.
CANTEEN:
THE College Canteen caters to the needs of students and staff, and is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 on all working days.
DIGITAL LIBRARY(ONLINE e-RESOURCES)
The Library is subscribing online Journals of IEEE package Level-2 from INDEST Consortium with the financial assistance of TEQUIP funds. Indian standards related to all branches of engineering and Knovel, e-Books covering 259 titles of reputed publications of all branches of engineering are also available in Digital Library. Students can browse, search their related Journals and download full text articles.
LRC(LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER)
On the lines of Advanced Educational Centers like it's the OU Engineering College is also contemplated to establish a Learning Resource Center in the Diamond Jubilee Library. Therefore, the Collegs has purchased one plasma TV, DVD Player, LCD Projector and Over Head Projector and 15 Multimedia computer Systems to facilites multimedia learning to the Engineering students and faculty.
